El emprendimiento sostenible es un tema poco explorado, se ha identificado una baja información teórica y empírica especialmente en idioma español, por esta razón este trabajo presenta una revisión de literatura acerca del emprendimiento sostenible, el objetivo es comprender su significado y dimensiones. Para responder a este objetivo se realizó una revisión de literatura, la selección de documentos fue realizada usando Scopus, después se obtuvieron los documentos en science direct. (Ebsco, Taylor & Francis, Jstore y Willey Año). Las áreas de conocimiento que aborda este trabajo son la economía y la gestión de empresas. En primer lugar se presenta el emprendimiento y sus externalidades, enseguida el desarrollo sostenible, después se integran los dos conceptos, emprendimiento y sostenibilidad, sus componentes, finalmente se muestran algunas ideas sobre la gestión privada y pública del emprendimiento sostenible.
