Food security in the aspect of hunger: A legal-political panorama for the fulfillment of the SDGs

The main objective of this research is to understand food security in Brazil in the face of food waste in the production chain, and to verify the mitigation perspectives for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially regarding hunger. Food waste begins with handling, storage and conditioning, due to inefficiency in supply chains and processing, distribution and consumption. To food waste are added the socio-environmental impacts of the use of water, soil and biodiversity, which prevent the solution of hunger, taking into account that adequate food and the existence of sufficient food production constitute a right fundamental human. In this context, the following question is posed as a research problem: what are the prospects for mitigating food waste throughout the production chain for the fulfillment of the SDGs?
