La medicina estética se ha convertido en una industria multimillonaria fundamentada en el culto a la belleza; se pretende revisar cómo este ejercicio se ha convertido en una alternativa para médicos generales quienes sin la especialización requerida y extralimitándose en su campo de acción, realizan procedimientos quirúrgicos para los que no están adecuadamente capacitados, sometiendo a graves riesgos, no solo la integridad física y la vida misma de los pacientes, sino que comprometen seriamente su propia responsabilidad ética, penal y civil debido a una extralimitada práctica que está excluida de la cobertura de las pólizas de seguro de responsabilidad médica.
