Resumen

Los estudiantes tienen diversas motivaciones para ingresar a la universidad, esto define su relación con el estudio y la posibilidad de permanecer o no en su carrera y graduarse. La deserción constituye una preocupación actual que comparten las instituciones de educación superior, dado el alto porcentaje de deserción estudiantil que tiene el país y las repercusiones que esto trae en el desarrollo tanto personal como nacional. La Institución Universitaria de Envigado, implementa el Semestre de Afianzamiento- SEA- como política de permanencia para los estudiantes que pierden la continuidad académica por bajo rendimiento y dicha política genera en los estudiantes diversas reacciones que incrementan los imaginarios sociales, haciendo que la misma no sea acogida debidamente por algunos estudiantes.

Abstract

Students have different motivations for entering college, this defines their relationship with the study and the possibility to stay or not and graduate career.
Attrition is a concern shared by the current higher education institutions, given the high dropout rate that the country and the impact that this has on both personal and national development.
The University of Envigado, implements Semester Strengthening policy-SEA-like residence for students lose academic continuity for poor performance and the policy generated mixed reactions in students that increase social images, making it not duly received by some students
