Against the backdrop of the millions of people dying worldwide from chronic noncommunicable diseases, the scientific community must recognize the mental health impact of a chronic disease diagnosis. Consequently, the aim of this study is to describe the prevalence of chronic noncommunicable diseases and biomarkers associated with suicide risk. To this end, 27 articles published between 2014 and 2020 were selected from various databases. The most frequent diseases associated with suicide risk were found to be cancer, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, inflammatory bowel disease, pneumoconiosis and oophorectomy. As for biomarkers, genes were found to be associated with suicide risk in patients with chronic diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes and obesity/cholesterol. Other risk factors for suicide were related to onset of the disease in adolescence, undergoing surgical procedures, chemotherapy, being a male over 65, and being single. The most prevalent diseases related to suicide risk are: cancer, hypertension, COPD, inflammatory bowel diseases, pneumoconiosis and oophorectomy. The biomarkers present in relation to suicidal risk for cancer are: AK2, PTEN, LHFP and SATI; for neurodegenerative diseases and diabetes CLN5; and obesity/cholesterol: ABCA-I. Other suicide risk factors: onset of NCD in adolescence, surgical procedures, chemotherapies, men older than 65 years, and single patients. NCDs related to suicidal risk are cancer with specific biomarkers, as in neurodegenerative diseases and diabetes, suicidal ideation is more present in patients with NCDs with association to social and psychological factors
